Looking for a different bookkeeper
Switching bookkeepers. Clarity first, then the handover.
You may want clearer explanations, more personal contact or an adviser who thinks ahead with you. A change can make sense. We first review your current arrangements and records so that responsibilities and next steps are clear.
What would you like to change?
As your business develops, your support needs may change too. Perhaps your figures are not sufficiently clear, you want to discuss decisions sooner or work remains unfinished. Our first conversation focuses on what you need.
A full handover is not always the only option. A targeted bookkeeping review or additional advice may be suitable. We assess what would help, rather than immediately putting you into a new standard package.
Start with a clear picture of the current position
Before taking on work, I need to understand what has been completed, what remains open and what you have agreed with your current provider. This helps avoid confusion about returns, annual figures and deadlines.
- Your current bookkeeping and accounting software.
- The most recent annual figures and relevant filed tax returns.
- Outstanding work, questions and any backlogs.
- Filing deadlines, correspondence and existing arrangements.
- Available exports, access rights and a secure way to transfer documents.
Agree who does what
We agree from which period I will be involved and who will complete ongoing annual work and tax returns. Existing commitments and any notice period must be considered. An introductory conversation is not an automatic transfer of responsibility for your records.
If we decide to proceed, the necessary client acceptance process and engagement confirmation come first. The agreed services then begin. With your permission, we coordinate the practical handover with your current bookkeeper.
Better support without an unnecessary fresh start
Work that is already in order does not need to be redone. I build on your existing records wherever possible and identify the substantive improvements needed. We agree on the explanations you would find useful and when we will speak.
Looking for a bookkeeper or tax adviser for your freelance business in Heemstede, Haarlem or the surrounding area? We can discuss a combination of review, returns and advice that fits. Remote collaboration is also possible.
Frequently asked questions
Should I cancel my current arrangement first?
No. First establish your current commitments and the work still in progress, then discuss a suitable handover. Check your agreement before giving notice.
Can I switch during the year?
We can discuss this. What is feasible depends on your records, current work, deadlines and availability. Responsibilities for each period are agreed beforehand.
Will I need different accounting software?
Not automatically. The starting point is to retain useful information and a workable setup. If a change is needed, we discuss the approach and its implications.
Can you help if my bookkeeping is behind?
We first assess the size and urgency of the backlog. We then agree on the information needed, the work that can be done and a realistic schedule. Completion dates cannot be promised before that assessment.
Looking for support that fits you better?
Tell me what you are looking for and which tasks your current provider handles. We can discuss the options and a careful next step.
